Houston..."The Eagle Has Landed"

A fairly easy drive up from Galveston (yes we are still singing the song!)  to the Johnson Space Centre near Houston.
We are pleased though that we did the journey as when leaving Galveston (that song again! ) it wasn't too clear how to get onto the I-45 and we ended up in a shopping mall which was fine with the truck but could have been interesting when towing the camper........
Rocket Park at JSC
As Yorkie Man said it took an incredible amount of power to get such small capsule through and out of earth's atmosphere :0
Unfortunately although we are pleased we came  I have to say it was not the best value or organised tour, rather disorganised and the staff really needed to go to the Disney School of Customer Service ! The biggest disappointment though was to hear that the planned man flight to Mars won't be until 2035 and they are not signing up any seniors !!!! Bang goes my hope of going into space :(
From NASA to Kemah Boardwalk which is a neat area of shops, restaurants and a fun fair . A pleasant area to walk about.....
The Boardwalk Bullet a very fast steep wooden roller coaster  which I decide to ride.......
It's a long walk to the top but do I look nervous !!.......the track is just under 3500 feet long
Michael said when the car goes up the steep incline the whole structure moves about 2 feet !!
That's me in the middle in the green/turquoise. I cropped this pic to bring me in closer and then added and it's gone in above this pic but they are having a few problems here with the internet today and as I want to publish this post before moving up to Houston tomorrow then I'm going with it
Although I have been on roller coasters before, I've not been on one that is this high or fast........ I wanted to do this before I'm too old........a tick off the bucket list
I survived.....:))
This is just down the road from Kemah Boardwalk and shows how the oil industry and recreational areas seem to live together quite happily.........

Michael is already practicing his golf shots for when his pal returns......

  3. Hi Sue+ Michael,
It must be something in ladies genes,as Ann would have liked to have gone on the roller coaster,I think you are both mad ,but very brave I would not go anywhere near it.It`s very wet here with lots of floods around, and cold so enjoy whilst you can.Hope the trip to Houston was a good one.How much longer do you have?
    Cheers,
    Ann + Dave

  4. It's a pity Ann wasn't here and then we could have done it together.
We are just about to hitch up and move our home on wheels to the storage at Houston. We are spending tonight in an airport hotel ready for the afternoon flight tomorrow
Looking forward to getting home but not the weather......perhaps we should buy a boat ??
    Love to you both
